DeMay Consulting was formed by David M. DeMay to fill a need in the intellectual property field for a firm that services its clients from multiple perspective.

As a young adult Mr DeMay pursued a patent application for a game apparatus.  After investing a substantial amount of time, money and effort, the application was abandoned due to the extent of 'prior art' considerations and the resulting limited patent rights that could be secured.  In his professional career, Mr. DeMay continued to see individuals and businesses expend scarce resources on their intellectual property portfolios in the hope that something will eventually make the effort worthwhile. DeMay Consulting was formed to help correct this approach of blindly throwing resources at intellectual property.

Academically,  Mr. DeMay is trained in Mathematics and Physics having received his B.S. degree from Penn State University and subsequently pursuing coursework in Physics at Carnegie Mellon.

Professionally, he worked for six years for Shipley Company, a chemical manufacturer for the semiconductor industry (now a division of Rohm and Haas), serving both in the laboratory and in an engineering department. Following law school, Mr. DeMay worked in the personal injury field acquiring extensive litigation experience.
After choosing to purse a career in intellectual property, he became a patent attorney and worked as in house counsel for a design and development firm helping individuals and business with all aspects of their intellectual property concerns.

Because he continued to see businesses and individuals squander resources with seemingly little or no understanding of the strengths and weaknesses of their intellectual property portfolios, he established DeMay Consulting to provide a resource to advise, educate and guide clients in a broad-based, pragmatic approach to developing their portfolios.
